MTV VMA 2026, Madonna apre lo show e primeggia sulle nomination

La 43ª edizione degli MTV Video Music Awards si terrà il 27 settembre 2026 al Peacock Theater di Los Angeles. Le candidature sono state annunciate il 18 agosto 2026 e a guidare la classifica è stata Madonna, con ben 11 nomination. A seguire troviamo Taylor Swift, con 10 candidature, mentre Ariana Grande e Sabrina Carpenter ne hanno ottenute 7 a testa. Ed è notizia di oggi che la Ciccone non solo si presenterà agli MTV VMAs, ma si esibirà pure.

Madonna non si esibisce ai VMAs da oltre vent’anni, ovvero dalla storica apertura dell’edizione del 2003, quando sul palco si unì a Britney Spears e Christina Aguilera per una performance diventata iconica (e a cui avrebbe dovuto partecipare Jennifer Lopez, che tutt’ora si mangia i gomiti).

In occasione dei VMAs 2026, Madonna si presenterà con un nuovo record personale: è l’artista con il maggior numero di nomination di questa edizione, ben 11, che potrebbero arricchire il suo palmares di vittorie (in totale 19). Tra le candidature ricevute figurano anche quelle per Video dell’Anno, Artista dell’Anno e Canzone dell’Anno. Questa è la terza volta che guida la classifica delle nomination ai VMAs: era già successo nel 1990, quando aveva ottenuto nove candidature grazie a Vogue e nel 1998, con altre nove nomination per Ray Of Light e Frozen.

Madonna agli MTV VMAs, le esibizioni più iconiche

Madonna è stata una delle grandi protagoniste della storia degli MTV Video Music Awards fin dalla prima edizione. Nel 1986 è diventata la prima artista solista donna a ricevere il prestigioso Video Vanguard Award, impossibile, poi, dimenticare la sua esibizione di Like a Virgin del 1984, durante la prima edizione dei VMAs. Nel 1989 ha aperto lo show con l’esibizione di Express Yourself, mentre nel 1990 ha portato sul palco una spettacolare versione di Vogue, ispirata all’estetica del XVIII secolo e considerata una delle performance televisive più celebri di sempre. Nel 1993, invece, Madonna ha conquistato la scena con Bye Bye Baby, poi è arrivato il 2003, con quel bacio a Britney Spears e Christina Aguilera che ha fatto esplodere il mondo del pop.
