Meg Stalter: la regina del cringe che ha conquistato Netflix e la discografia con Gay e Prettiest Girl In America

Se frequentate TikTok o amate il cringe (il soprannome “Queen Of Cringe” le è stato dato dalla stampa anglosassone sul The Guardian), il volto di Meg Stalter (all’anagrafe Megan Stalter) vi è sicuramente familiare. L’attrice e stand-up comedian americana è il fenomeno pop del momento e in Italia l’abbiamo vista prima nei panni di Kayla, la segretaria raccomandata e totalmente fuori controllo nella serie cult Hacks di HBO e poi come protagonista di Too Much, la rom-com Netflix firmata da Lena Dunham.

Con i suoi video virali pubblicati su TikTok durante la pandemia (in cui interpretava personaggi egocentrici e privi di talento) ha conquistato Hollywood e in pochi anni è riuscita a passare dall’essere una comica di TikTok a un’attrice di Netflix. E ora è diventata pure cantante. Il suo primo singolo Prettiest Girl In America è diventato virale su TikTok, mentre qualche giorno fa, in occasione del Pride Month, ha pubblicato pure il suo secondo singolo, Gay.

Il brano è un po’ la versione americana di Luca è Gay di BigMaga (vi dico solo che il ritornello di Gay di Meg Stalter è: “amo i gay, tutto quello che facciamo è slay“). La cover, invece, è palesemente un omaggio a Santissima Vicky (dai, sono. identiche). Ad ogni modo, la nostra Queen of Cringe ha già annunciato l’uscita estiva del suo primo album, Crave, che sarà un vero e proprio omaggio al pop dei primi anni 2000. E io non posso che esserne assolutamente entusiasta.
